Why Certain Countries are Placing Restrictions on YouTube
If you are someone that regularly uses YouTube then you may have become accustomed to landing on videos that pop up with the annoying ‘video unavailable’ message. Usually, you would just ignore this message and move onto a new video, but have you ever sat and wondered why this message pops up at all? After all, why shouldn’t you be able to access every video that the site has to offer, and is everyone else getting this message too? It turns out that countries have started to place restrictions on YouTube, but why?
If you’re someone who loves watching your favorite shows on repeat but can’t be bothered paying the prices for Streaming, you’ll be very aware that you can find a lot of your favorite shows on YouTube. A lot of the production companies publish episodes of their TV shows onto YouTube so that their audience can access the show from around the world. However, you may have noticed that if you’re looking for an episode of your favorite show and it’s published on YouTube then you may once again meet that unavailable message. If they’ve already published it then why can’t you see it? The answer is pretty straightforward but understandably quite annoying, it’s simply because if you are from the same country that the show was initially released in then the video won’t be available for you. This is because they want to encourage people to watch the shows that they have produced on the streaming sites that they were initially released on, however, they do make them available for people in other countries who will not be able to access the streaming services. This will explain why some content may not be available for you to view and can be a nuisance, however, if this is the case then it usually means that you will be able to stream the show for free on sites available in your country, so it’s not all lost.
The Music Issue
If you have previously looked at a video and it has suddenly gone missing, then you may also wonder why you can’t look at the video anymore. This is because there have been a lot of restrictions put onto YouTube videos and one of the main restrictions that have been put into place has been the use of music. It is easy to have your videos deleted due to the use of music produced by someone else, even if it is only a small sample of that song. This depends on the country’s strict copyright rules as each country differs, but a lot of videos end up being deleted because it is easier to get rid of them than lose all of the profits that you get for the content as if you keep the content up, then any money that you make for it I’ll go to anyone that files a copyright claim.
YouTube has also become very strict with what content you can actually publish on the site too as there have been far too many cases of inappropriate content being published on the site. However, with this, they have become perhaps too limiting on what you can publish as you can no longer get away with little things such as swearing. This may limit what content you can produce and thus may naturally decrease the number of viewers you get, if this is the case then you could always purchase some views. Lately, buying views on YouTube is very widespread and lots of content creators are doing it, this is a great way to boost your audience as people usually presume that if you have a lot of views, then you are creating great content.
